Dear SLAM! Fans
and Visitors,
After extensive summer tryouts in which
nearly 70 boys tried out for the 2008
SLAM! team, months of indoor training,
several team "skull sessions"
which focused on "The Mental Game of
Baseball" (Dorfmann, 2002), and a
whole lot of pizza, the 2008 SLAM! Team
is looking forward to actually playing
baseball soon! Our season begins on
Wednesday April 9, 2008 with a home game
(at Fearn School, 1600 Hawksley Ln, North
Aurora, IL 60542-1781) versus the Geneva
Vikings Blue. Please check out the rest

I want to take a few words to thank both
our SLAM! families and sponsors for their
ongoing support of the boys on the team
and the goals that they've established
for both the team and themselves,
individually. Each family has worked very
hard to both recruit sponsors and to
raise the necessary funds to provide the
training opportunities, purchase
equipment, and enter tournaments, to make
this a very special and rewarding
experience for our boys. Thanks,
everyone!
As we begin the 2008 SLAM! season, it's
my hope that the boys have a wonderful
time playing baseball, developing their
baseball skills, and learning lessons
that both help them toward achieving
these goals and also transcending
baseball to making them better men and
fathers/providers for their future
families. This is also the overarching
goal of the GABA organization and I look
forward to leading these fine young men
through the 2008 season on behalf of the
families of our SLAM! Team.
